Water Softener Systems

Hair, skin, and plumbing are all significantly affected by hard water’s increased calcium and magnesium concentrations. The more calcium and magnesium you have in your water, the harder it will be and the more film and buildup you’ll see.

Installing a water softening system in your home is the best way to deal with hard water minerals. Installing a water softener means the water in your home is now soft. Water softeners have various advantages and affects on your drinking water, such as:
  • Cleaner surfaces, appliances, and clothing due to no hard water stains
  • Less soap and detergent required
  • Longevity of water-using appliances
  • Cleaner, softer skin and hair

Iron Removal and Filtration Systems

Does the water in your home have an unappealing yellow color with a subtle metallic taste? You may be suffering from the impacts of high iron or manganese levels in your water. Does your water smell bad? The presence of hydrogen sulfide in water produces a rotten egg odor.

An Iron Filter will not only improve the quality of your drinking and cooking water, but it will also help you avoid stains on your sinks, tub, and washing machine. Filtered water contributes to the prevention of problems caused by buildup in your pipes and water-using equipment.

Hermantown Water

In 1912, the City started adding chlorine to the water to aide in cleaning the water. The chlorine was applied to the water in the Pump Station and was the only treatment done to purify the water until the Treatment Plant was built in 1976. This was obviously not an ideal way to treat drinking water for a population of around 100,000 people, so a rapid sand filtration plant was built across the highway from the pump station to accomplish this.
